Site Level Workflows

A new feature in Sharepoint 2010 is the ability to create Site level workflows. What that means is that you could create workflows on a site to be globally available as opposed to only on specific libraries. For example, you could create a site level workflow that monitors your sites and subsites status and manage archiving and deletion of stale sites.
